The image is the point.

LightWave Media is a production company that builds its own tools. We photograph feature films, protect the picture from the camera card to the screen, and turn what we learn on set into software. Everything else serves the frame.

What we believe

Tools have no point of view. People do.

A camera collects data. A model predicts the likely answer. Give five directors the same script and you get five films. Ask five models the same question and the answers converge. The difference is a point of view, and everything we make exists to protect it.

Follow the evidence

Cameras, stocks, and LUTs come with mythology. We isolate the variables, test, and trust what the audience actually sees.

  • Camera, lens, and LUT tests with the variables isolated
  • A written test report before day one
  • Camera choice decided on data, not the badge on the body

Protect the picture

A look is a decision made on set. We make sure it survives every hand-off: dailies, editorial, conform, grade, delivery.

  • Show LUT and per-shot CDLs tracked from set to grade
  • Dailies that carry the on-set look into every review file
  • Conform and grade verified against what was decided

Subtract until it holds

The quiet frame carries more than the loud one. In photographs, in pipelines, and in software, we remove what does not belong before we add anything.

  • One pipeline, no black boxes
  • Every transform written down
  • Nothing added that does not serve the frame

Amplify, never replace

Technology adapts to the person, never the reverse. Software carries the paperwork, the lookups, and the repetition, and lays out the options. Taste, judgment, and the final call stay with a person.

  • Software carries the paperwork, the lookups, and the repetition
  • It lays out the options and the context
  • Taste, judgment, and the final call stay with a person

Applications

What we learn on set becomes software.

To create is to make something that was missing before. Our applications are built for that hour, and for the business that has to survive it. Every workflow runs on one of our own productions before it ships to anyone else.
