Joel E. Schaeffer works with directors to find the visual language of a film. Camera, lenses, lighting and movement follow the story, with preparation that carries into the realities of the shoot.

Joel also joins films as a technical lead and consultant. We develop the image workflow with production, VFX and post, so the intended picture holds together as it moves between departments.

Films about artists and the act of making. We work with artists, galleries and curators to develop moving images for exhibition spaces, from an intimate studio portrait to an abstract study of light and material.

Theatrical, large-format and streaming delivery each place demands on the picture. We plan with the relevant teams and delivery specifications from the start.
