Joel E. Schaeffer

Joel E. Schaeffer is a cinematographer and co-founder of LightWave Media. His work spans narrative films, commercials and documentary, with a practice grounded in camera, light and color.

On Shrimad Bhagavatam Part I: Vishnurata, his contribution includes cinematography and development of the technical workflow behind the imagery, working closely with VFX partner Atomic Arts. He also joins productions as a technical lead and consultant.

His collaborations with director Thomas Simon and producer Erin Gilchrist include Bowlhead and Feeder. A fuller filmography and cinematography portfolio are available on his personal site.

Alongside filmmaking, Joel designs and uses the Creative Operating System and its filmmaking domain, CineOS. The systems develop through his own working practice.

He is based in Los Angeles and works internationally.
